CD WIN KING’S BIRTHDAY TOURNAMENT B SECTION!

CDISC back in the A Section!

The 2023 NZISA King’s Birthday Tournament was a HUGE success for CDISC with our club winning the Men’s B Section! The squad won all four games and played some outstanding hockey all weekend. To top off a fantastic weekend, the final was also a T&G (Turners and Growers) Shield Challenge, which CD took home for the first time with its fantastic 2-0 win over Wellington B! More on the T&G Shield here.

The squad saw three debutants this year with Connor Narasy, Amanjot Singh, and Jeevanjot Singh joining the CD Family, who all contributed to our success on field with Connor being top goal scorer of the B Section and scoring 4 in the first game, and Amanjot taking out the prestigious CDISC MVP award!

CDISC could not be prouder of the group of players, coaches, and managers who banded together to make this weekend such a huge success, and of course, to the loyal CD supporters who travelled to Wellington to support our club. CD was the talk of the turf with the stunning performance by our team, and of the very vocal supporters CD had on the side line.

Moving to the A Section is a boost to our club, as we strive to attain the coveted Dhyan Chand Trophy and taste the sweet success that achievement will provide. It has been sometime between drinks with CDISC last winning the A Section in 2008.

A big thank you to NZISA for hosting KBT, and for arranging games to be livestreamed via Local Gecko Productions. All CDISC games were livestreamed and can be found below, along with our own player medal and MVP presentation that occured straight after NZISA prizegiving. All other KBT livestreamed games are on the NZISA website.

We also thank our hosts, Wellington Indian Sports Club, who we have great ties with due to many of our members now living in the Wellington region and being members of WISC by way of playing hockey for their club and by being on their committee. Thank you WISC!

2024 will be an exciting year for CDISC, and we look forward to seeing more success on the field. Stats for the 2023 weekend are below, and photos below.
