ABOUT US
The Central Districts Indian Sports Club, also known as ‘CD’, was formed in 1982. We are a non-profit, community based, and volunteer run organisation who are proud of the family spirit that exists within our club.
OBJECTIVE
Our main objective is to promote, encourage and foster Indian sports in the Central Districts region, which encompasses the Manawatu, Hawke's Bay, Wanganui and Taranaki regions (our border spans from Ohakune, along the Hawke's Bay coastline, down to the border of Otaki, and back around to Taranaki and Wanganui).
Our primary focus has been hockey, with soccer and netball played in the earlier days. Recently we have branched out into golf, and are looking to expand into cricket.
Although created to foster the Indian community, we have an increasing number of non-Indian members as well. Today our members are based in Palmerston North, Dannevirke and Wanganui, with a large participating and supporting membership located throughout New Zealand.
ADMINISTRATION
The operation of CDISC is carried out by a team consisting of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and a number of Committee members who are elected each year. When larger events are held (e.g. Queen's Birthday Tournament) a sub-committee is formed with various club members. We have an official Rules and Regulations Document which the club operates against, which can be downloaded here. CDISC became an Incorporated Society in March 2018.

AFFILIATIONS
CDISC is affiliated to the New Zealand Indian Sports Association Inc. (NZISA) which is the national sporting body consisting of 8 Indian Sports Clubs (North Harbour, Auckland, Pukekohe, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Central Districts, Wellington and Christchurch). We participate in their annual Queen’s Birthday Tournament where hockey and netball is played, and where we have had great success with hockey in the past.
We also have a close relationship with Hockey Manawatu Inc. and the Central Districts Indian Association Inc. where relationships with both organisations have spanned for over 30 years, where many CDISC members are also involved with them.
CORRESPONDENCE
CDISC members are informed of the clubs events and activities by way of regular newsletters which are emailed out nationally and posted locally. Newsletters are also posted in the News Feed section of the website (past newsletters can be found here). CDISC is also active on Facebook and Instagram, so please free to follow us on these pages as well to keep up to date with the club.
We hope you enjoy this website and learn more about CDISC. We are looking to expand and participate into other sports, so please feel free to contact us with any queries you may have, or if you would like to become a CDISC member. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to having you involved with our club!
